Almost 4 Months, Sales, and Gifts

Introducing my almost four-month-old:

I apologize for the motion sickness, but she just wouldn't keep still!  She has a tendency to lean into her shoulder when she smiles or laughs.

Believe it or not, she does have hair, although I started to make her bald!  My babies always get scaly patches on their heads, so I was using olive oil (don't waste your money on the special shampoo--it stinks and is a waste of time) to try to comb it out, but I noticed little furry pieces--her hair!   So, I'm attempting to rid the scales in stages now.

Now, check out my haul from the Kid Stuff Sale in S. Indiana. I went on 1/2 price day and almost all my purchases were marked down 50%.  I bought all of this, two shirts and two books for my older girls, leggings for under their school uniforms, a musical soft book (no, I didn't realize it was musical--I honestly have learned from my older two girls and probably would not have bought it), and (drum roll...) a small, extremely loud Elmo.  I say this while chuckling.  You see, Lovely's original Elmo disappeared mysteriously years ago after S stated over and over again how much he despised that doll.  I didn't realize this Elmo was stuffed in the bag between the soft book and a plastic photo album, but Laea smiles at it when it talks to her!

In short, I spent about $40 for eight outfits, two onesies, two pairs of pants, a sweater, the stuff listed above, and numerous infant toys--most good name brands.  Yes, I will be attending the Louisville sale as well--on the new mother early entry day :)  It's 3x the size of this sale!  Yes, I have been attending these sales for 8.5 yrs now!

Below is the Valentine's Day craft I made with Snugglebug's class.  They had a blast!  We also made spinners that allowed their Valentines (family members) to win a prize, such as a hug, chocolate, or washed dishes (mom's loved those!).

A lady from S's work sent this present home the other day.  Each hair decoration says one of the following:  Big Sister, Middle Sister, and Lil' Sister.  So cute!

Lastly, I had a girls night out with my BFF (ok, BF for the last...19 yrs!) this week.  We went to the Dragon King's Daughter's new location in S. Indiana.  The food was delicious, but they don't have a happy hour yet, so no 1/2 price sushi, and I love Sushi and the Banshees!  Also, the restaurant doesn't have the same eclectic feel--no bottles of water on the table, all tables are in the same open space.  Perhaps they'll grow into their own after a bit, though.  I'll be back, once Happy Hour is initiated!

Goodnight Said the Moon

This is the personalized decal I decided to use for Little Bit's room...I'm allowing her name for this pic, but I think I'll refer to her by the nickname I wanted to use, but S has said no to:  Princess Leia, or Laea for short!  This was an absolute pain to put on the wall because the "princess" and all small punctuation wanted to stick to the paper instead of the wall.  Also, it had a comma splice, so I cut off the top of the comma and turned it into a semi-colon:

I know it seems we're overstimulating our daughter, but the deer mobile is already broken--I broke it the first time I went to use it.  --Good thing I got a deal on all of the deer bedding!  I've found the touch-button of the other mobile and dream soother to be much easier for my clumsy hands.  We've also installed a camera monitor on the wall above the crib so I can watch & listen to her from our room.

This is the rest of the nursery.  I plan on having a new window installed in the spring, along with new blinds (if we can afford to do so).  As I was installing the curtain rod holder, I knocked a huge chunk of our wall out (oops!), which I can attribute to very poor plaster work originally.  I have put nails in walls before, so it wasn't just me...or so I say.  I'm just glad the holder was big enough to cover the hole!

I plan on fixing up the bookcase a bit more, but I haven't had a chance to find a good spot for my books.  Yes, the top shelf is filled with writing books that I use for my composition classes.  Maybe Laea will be a good writer?

If you notice above, I've placed a portable changing pad cover on top of the changing pad.  This is because of the multiple accidents we had when she was first born.  Thankfully, things have slowed down!  Also, the tan carpet has a light pink rug on it--shag--and I absolutely love it!  One of my Zulily finds.  If you need an invite to Zulily (so I can get credit, I won't deny), let me know!

The basket above fit perfectly where S had had his turkey beards hanging on the wall.  It has just enough slant so I can see in and chose the headband I want to use, and then I've clipped the flowers to the outside of the basket.  I know this nursery seems cramped, but this child is the only one in the house with her own bedroom, and I'm thankful for what she has!  It's not the most comfortable rocking chair, but I can't part with the beauty of it.  The chair cushion does help tremendously, but I also plan on replacing it with a coordinating color, so long as I can finally remember where I got this chair pad to begin with!

Finally, this is Laea, smiling up at me and batting her hands...Unfortunately, I forgot to check the camera setting before taking this picture, so the coloring is terrible:

Three Months Old.  She sleeps up to 8 hours at night (Yay!), wants to sit straight up on your lap and no longer lie down, coos, makes vowel-consonant combinations, holds her head steady and straight up for long periods of time, and is addicted to watching TV when I let various documentaries run (am I a terrible parent or what?).  She doesn't care for people to sing to her unless it's Grandma or Snugglebug, but she'll stare me down across the room in hopes for me to get her.  I feel like I took so much for granted with the first child, and I'm so happy to be older and hopefully wiser with my third.

What are you happy to be older and wiser about in life?
